French-Vietnamese photographer tells tales from banks of the Mekong River

An exhibition of 28 photographs depicting a photographer’s 4,200km journey alongside the Mekong River will go on show in Đà Nẵng.

French-Vietnamese photographer Lâm Đức Hiền’s show will rejoice the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic ties between France and Việt Nam.

It is going to additionally mark the tenth anniversary of the strategic partnership of the 2 nations in addition to selling a sequence of cultural and tourism actions in central Việt Nam.

Hiền, whose father was Vietnamese and mom Laotian, was born in 1966 on the Mekong River aspect on the Pakse part in Laos. He then moved to dwell in France in 1977 after spending two years at a refugee camp in Thailand.

The photographer travelled from the supply in Tibet taking photos documenting the life tales amongst communities residing on each side of the river.

The gathering options portraits and private recollections of individuals he met on the journey. The river marks as borders of territories and cultural hyperlinks of lands and other people.

Hiền, who’s a member of Agence VU (Company of photographers present in 1986), had photographed conflicts and incidents in Romania, Russia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Iraq.

All through his profession, he has gained many awards together with Leica prizes and the Nice European Award introduced to him in Vevey, Switzerland.

The exhibition, which is a collaboration between the museum, the Institute of France in Đà Nẵng and the Embassy of France in Việt Nam.

It will likely be open at 5pm on the museum on April 3. The photographer will participate in an alternate with guests at 4pm on April 14.
